On 19/December 1856 Henry aged 10 with his parents and siblings left London, England on the SS Cashmere arriving in New Plymouth NZ 5th April 1857 where it unloaded 25 passengers before proceeding to Auckland where it arrived 14th April 1857.
The voyage was via New Plymouth and took 118 days under the captaincy of George Pearson.
The Friday April 17, 1857 Edition of the "Southern Cross" lists:
Charles, Laura, Laura, Fanny, Henry, Jane, Frank, Clara, and Alexander Moore as disembarking passengers.

In 1860 the family went to Sydney, Australia.
Henry's father (Charles) went ahead leaving Auckland, NZ on 28th June 1860 (arriving Sydney 5th July) and Laura with 7 children leaving Auckland 3rd December (arriving Sydney on the 12th)

The Prince Alfred arrived in Nelson from Sydney 3 March 1863
